Product Description
Sikagard®-703 W is a silane/siloxane-based, ready-to-use, water-based and environmentally friendly exterior water-repellent protective material. It protects the surfaces against the harmful effects of water by applying to porous mineral surfaces such as concrete, mortar, brick, natural stone and asbestos cement. It penetrates deeply into the surface, provides a strong hydrophobic effect and allows the surface to breathe. It is mostly invisible after application; It does not spoil the aesthetics of the building. Areas of Use Exterior concrete surfaces Mortar and plaster surfaces Brick and natural stone surfaces Asbestos cement sheets Water absorbing mineral building elements Features / Advantages Strong water repellent (hydrophobic) property Vapor permeable, the surface breathes Does not change the structure appearance Provides resistance against stains, dirt, moss and lichen formation Compatible with paints and coatings Ready to use Water based and environmentally friendly Approvals / Standards Bureau Véritas – Aging, water vapor permeability and water absorbency tests Belgian Building Research Institute – Water vapor resistance and water absorption coefficient tests Product Information Chemical Structure: Silane / Siloxane mixture Appearance/Color: Whitish liquid Density: ~1.0 kg/L (+20 °C) Packaging: 5 L Shelf Life: 12 months Storage: It should be stored in a dry and cool environment, protected from moisture. Technical Information Water Vapor Permeability (EN ISO 12572) Equivalent air thickness (Sd): 0.003 m Capillary Water Absorption (EN ISO 15148) Untreated surface: 0.046 kg/m²·s⁰·⁵ Sikagard®-703 W applied surface: 0.021 kg/m²·s⁰·⁵ Application Information Consumption (Depends on Surface): Concrete and mortar: 150 – 200 g/m² Other porous surfaces: 300 – 500 g/m² A trial application must be made for exact consumption. Application Temperature: Ambient and surface temperature: +5 °C / +35 °C Curing: Does not require special cure Must be protected from rain for at least 3 hours at +20 °C Surface Preparation The surface must be clean, sound and dry Dust, oil, dirt, efflorescence and old paint must be removed Cracks larger than 300 microns should be repaired in advance Best results are achieved on dry and absorbent surfaces Application Method Low pressure spraying, by brush or roller Applied from bottom to top, in a single pass It should be applied in a way that does not flow. If necessary, a wet-on-wet coat can be applied. Limitations Cement based surfaces must be at least 7 days old Glass and aluminum surfaces must be protected It should not be covered with limewash or cementitious coatings. The optimum water-repellent effect occurs after a few days Performance decreases on cracked surfaces
